I’ve had more inquiries thanks to Dark Matter Coffee teaming up with a bunch of Chicago artists and giving away their Chicago Bulls coffee with any art purchase — it was a nice opportunity to keep things exciting & I’m thankful to have been a part of it. Besides that, my friends and I are bouncing ideas for casual collaborations. But given that I don’t have many deadlines, I want to use this freedom to draw things for myself — for fun. Outside of art, my friends and I have been hooked on playing Animal Crossing, which has been a great medium during the pandemic to escape and meet up in the safest way possible.
The pandemic is nerve-wracking, but I do feel grateful for the opportunity to spend more time at home and to rest. Rest is part of the process but I never allowed myself to do nothing for too long. In some ways, it’s frustrating yet relaxing. I don’t think we need to force ourselves to be unrealistically productive during this time if you’re struck at home — there is always time.
I’m also grateful for the service workers. As a society, we don’t appreciate service workers nearly enough. Whether you’re in food, sanitation, retail or wherever on the front line, you all deserve so much better. Without you, this quarantine would have been far, far worse & I can’t express my gratitude.
When our situation lightens up, I’d like to immediately go visit my grandma and eat some of her cooking. She cooks almost everything in pork belly grease.”
