“Despite the stressful current events, quarantine was a decent excuse to take a (one month) break after working almost every day for a year! Jesse has been working on DIY electronic music gear and I (Rose) caught up on sleep and horror movies with gives me a lot of personal inspiration in my artwork - dreams as well as movies.

We’ve also had time to cook and enjoy more complicated meals. For my birthday, we drove to Mitsuwa marketplace and got Japanese and Korean food projects to cook. We are both passionate about food so having the opportunity to be creative provided some peace of mind.

I’m definitely grateful for the supply chain and all the work that goes into being able to have fresh cut flowers from all over the world at any time; especially those involving fresh product and agriculture. I’ve always been grateful for this, but it’s never been more apparent how easily it can fall apart. We also appreciate the resiliency of other small business owners who pivoted quickly to keep providing services so people still have access in quarantine.

Since opening (Black Rabbit) back up on May 1st, we have expanded our website to have plant listings that included their care information, making our shop fully digital for deliveries. We look forward to seeing friends and family again, and being able to visit our favorite bars, restaurants and venues. Until then, we will continue offering free local delivery and hope to be open for pick up in the next week.”
