“It’s strange that life was put on pause, but it still continues to happen. I am at peace with how things are going - this is a moment in life when you have to surrender control and just let life happen. There are days when I am productive and other days when I don’t feel like doing anything - but that’s okay. I am learning not to let circumstances out of my control affect my peace.

Luckily as an artist, I have always had the luxury to work from home; in some ways I have been trained for this new quarantine lifestyle. I have been exploring old ideas (characters, styles & colors) to revisit the beginning, revamp concepts, and fall in love with art all over again. Quarantine has also made me aware of how I want to spend my time - it’s important for me to be honest about the projects I want to spend time on or the commissions I am willing to take on. The best are when people just trust you to make art happen.

Beyond art, I am learning how to sew and make dog sweater & tees - a new hobby I have been obsessing about for a while now - and to eventually learn how to make clothes.

I feel blessed to have my family, a job, food and health. I’m learning to take care of myself and the people I love because you never know what’s going to happen. I’m grateful to still be able to bike and take my dog Friday for long walks - she’s the best companion and I’m happy to have her by my side.

I look forward to the next version of me — the paintings I am going to create and just being able to enjoy my days without fear. I am hopeful that something really good is going to come from all of this - we just need to be patient and take care of each other.”
